What is Alfred? Mac OS 9 provides a pretty simple way to install items like extensions, control panels or fonts in the system folder. You only need to drop those items on the icon of the system folder in the Finder and they are automatically routed in the appropriate folder(s). Mac OS X has signed extensions and control panels death warrant and this function- ality has gone with them. However, new fashion ”extensions” still exist like screen savers, preference panes or quicktime plug-ins. They have been strongly classified and they are much more numerous than under Mac OS 9. Nevertheless, Mac OS X provides no automatic way to put them away in your system. Alfred is a flexible, customizable plug-ins manager. Its main purpose is to bring Mac OS 9’s simplicity back to the users. Their life is made easy when installing, removing and moving plug-ins across domains, filling here a gap of MacOS X. It takes care of Mac OS X specificities, works with any kind of plug-ins and is not restricted to system management. Download Alfred for Mac
From Mac OS 10.1 up to Mac OS 10.5 Alfred requires any computer running Mac OS X 10.1 or later.
