What is After Dark X?

Demonstration Version Limitations

This version will initially work in demonstration mode. You will be able to view the screen savers in the preview window, and the preview will reflect any adjustments made to the settings in the control panel. However the screen saver will not display in full screen mode.
Instead a screen informing you that this is a demonstration version will be displayed. Also, sound effects will not play in Preview mode.
The computer will wake up as with any normal screen saver if you move the mouse or press a key on the keyboard.

Converting to a Full Version

You can convert your demonstration version into a full version by purchasing a password from Infinisys's home page.

Once you have received your password you can convert to a full version by following these steps.

1. Select the "Screen Saver" pane from the "System Preferences" window. 2. Select the "SpaceToasterX" module from the list of modules on the left.
3. Click on the "Configure" button. The screen saver control settings panel will display.
4. Click on "Input Password".
5. Input your password and then click "OK". (Make sure you input your password, not your serial number.)
Now if you click on the "Test" button your screen saver should display in full screen mode.

After Dark X Screen Saver Modules

Here is a list of the After Dark screen saver modules and some simple instructions regarding how to use them. The controls for the "Settings" are accessed by clicking on the "Configure" button.

1. CirclesX

This is a simple module that displays circles of different colors and sizes. Settings : You can vary the speed by using the "Speed" slider.

2. FireworksX

This provides with your very own fireworks display.
Settings : You can vary the frequency of the fireworks and the speed by using the sliders.
You can also choose from three different views by selecting from the "View" pop-up menu.

3. NewLineArtX

Draws multiple lines, forming an infinite variety of patterns.
Settings : You can set the number of lines, the number of multiples for each line and the speed by using the sliders. The best effects are gained by keeping either the "Number of Lines" slider or "Multiples" slider at the lower end of the scale. Moving them both up the scale tends to produce a mess.
The "Color settings" let you have gradual overall merging of colors (Gradual) or random colors for each line (Random). You can also select the "Fadeout" and/or "Fill" effects.

4. NewMessageX

Turns your screen into a message board.
Settings : You can vary the speed by using the slider. Choose between 6 display effects from the "Display" menu. Choose your font from the "Font" menu. Input your message in the "Message" box.

5. NewStarryNightX

This is a variation on the old After Dark default module. It shows views from various Japanese locations.
Settings : You can vary the speed by using the slider. Choose between 4 locations from the "Location" menu. You can also choose between 3 display effects from the "Display" menu.

6. NewWarpX

Something to space-out with. Plays music too.
Settings : You can vary the quantity of stars and the speed by using the sliders. The four pop-up menus provide other choices which are pretty self-explanatory. Play around with them for different effects. You can also register sound files (MP3,WAVE,AIFF) by using the "Add" button and then play them by checking the "Play" checkbox. To delete registered files select them and then click "Delete".

(Music doesn't play in Preview mode)

7. ShowerX

A very simple module that looks a little like seaspray. Settings : You can vary the speed by using the slider.

8. SpaceToasterX

The return of those cute little flying toasters.
Settings : You can vary the number of toasters and the speed by using the sliders.

Space Options
Show Earth : Check this to display the Earth at the beginning of the screen saver display.
Show Moon : Check this to display the Moon throughout the screen saver display.

Moon Phases
Realtime waxing & waning : Check this to have the moon displayed in the screen saver reflect the current state of the real moon.
Virtual waxing & waning : Check this to have the screen saver moon go through its phases.

Moon Movement
Fixed Position : Check this to have the moon display in a fixed position in the middle of the screen.
Left to Right : Check this to have the moon move from to left to right.

Music Options
Don't Play : Check this if you want the Flying Toaster song music to play (this is a trick check box).
Repeat : Check this to have the music play repeatedly.
Play once : Check this to have the music play only once.
Volume : Use this to vary the music volume.
(Music doesn't play in Preview mode)

Flying Toasters
Start with One : If this is checked, initially only one flying toaster will be displayed against the backdrop of the Earth (No I don't know why this control is necessary either.)

Screen Size
Select the screen size you want to display the module in. Full Screen is obviously best. The others are provided for those of you who may have older machines (like the first iMac) which might struggle to show the module at its best if displayed in full screen. Choosing a smaller size will speed things up.
