RagTime is a fully integrated office suite combinded with a DTP like approach. It is referred by the developer as an "Office Publishing Soloution" - hinting to the combination of Office and DTP. In fact was so important and popular during "Apple's lost decade" that an earlier version (called RagTime Classic) was bundled with every Macintosh for a while. Even some of RagTime's features later on made it into MacOS (especially the template system and the splitable windows).
Every kind of content is placed in frames. Contents are Text, Image, Spreadsheet and Chart. You can change the kind of content later on (of course, if you change a Text to be a Spreadsheet, the previous text is lost). Frames are graphical primitives such as boxes or circles.

In comparison to traditional dtp/layout software RagTime also is:
While it originates from the "black&white macs" era, RagTime 3.2 fully supports color. Beeing a DTP software at the same time it features CMYK colors as well as cutting edges...
The private version is legally free to use for non commercial purposes.

It runs on most MacOS Versions from 7.x on 68k and PPC models. It runs well in the Rosetta Emulation environment of MacOS X (PPC only). However lack of a printer might affect its' use inside there ;) [For OS X or Windows machines you should use 5.6 instead. It opens all RagTime 3 Documents perfectly]
Emulating this? It should run fine under: SheepShaver
