What is Reason 1.0 + 1.0.1 update?

Propellerheads Reason 1.0 is a DAW (digital audio workstation).

 

It has 4 primary devices for making music:

Subtractor (An analog-type polyphonic synthesizer based on subtractive synthesis, the method used in analog synthesizers.)

Redrum (A drum machine with a built-in pattern sequencer.)

NN19 (A basic sampler player that houses one or more samples in one sample player.)

Dr Rex (A loop player that uses .rex files)

 

There are also other cool devices:

Matrix (A pattern-based device. Matrix doesn’t generate sound on its own, but has to be connected to another instrument device. It basically works by sending pattern data in the form of Note CV (pitch) and Gate CV (note on/off plus velocity) or Curve CV (for general CV parameter control) signals to a device or device parameter. The patterns can be up to 32 steps, and there are 32 memory locations for storing pattern data. The Matrix is monophonic and can control one voice in an instrument device.)

Rebirth Input Machine (For using Propellerheads Rebirth RB-338 with Reason.)

Other Functionalities:

Automation is possible and when you hit 'TAB' on your keyboard it reverses the devices so you can see the wiring and connect devices anyway you wish like you would in a real analog setup. External MIDI controllers are supported. Load in your favorite .wav audio samples in Redrum or NN19 (.mp3 not supported). Slice and create your own .rex loops in Recycle to load into Dr Rex. Create cool synth sounds with Subtractor. Compose full songs with nothing other than your PC.
