What is Introduction to Gothic? Introduction to Gothic is the shareware/demo version of Gothic, a text-based, aventure game created with World Builder. THIS is the tale of EMILY, a young orphaned woman cruelly imprisoned in Castel Udolpho, a mountain fastness lost in the desolate heart to the Italian Appenines. THIS is the story of MONTONI, Lord of Udolpho, a man of unimagined evil, a man whose plots against Emily's life and property, are surpassed only by his designs upon her person. THIS is the tale of LAVINIA, once and sometime mistress of Udopho, who--so the village gossips whisper to each other on cold and stormy nights in the valley--died (or did she ever quite die?) a strange and horrible death... Tonight, Emily has resolved to escape Castle Udolpho. She must do so before dawn, or she will be caught. It is now a few minutes before one o'clock in the morning. YOU are Emily... and THIS is GOTHIC. Let the TERROR begin....
