What is Macintosh "Twiggy" Prototype Files?

A while ago, a rare prototype "Twiggy" Macintosh surfaced. Instead of the more familiar Sony 3.5" floppy disk drive, this machine used  Apple's custom "Twiggy" 5.25-inch floppy disk drive as seen on the Apple Lisa 1. In the process of restoring and repairing it, they also revived a pre-release MacOS from a Twiggy disk.

Recently the Twiggy MacOS pre-release and associated machine ROMs surfaced on the MacGUI web site. Shortly after, a version of the vMac emulator was modified to run these.
