What is BinHex 5.0?

BinHex 5.0 is the last version released by the author. BinHex combines both the data and resource fork into a single stream of ASCII characters, which was a safe way of transferring Macintosh applications and documents over networks. The biggest drawback of the BinHex encoded file is that it is larger than the original file.
