What is DiskCopy 4.2, 5.0, 5.5, 6.0, 6.2, 6.3.3, 6.4, 6.5b13, 7.0, 8.0? Disk Copy was Apple's disk image creation and mounting tool that shipped with Mac OS starting from 1988 (System 6) up to 2002 (OSX 10.2). The last version released is beta but works fine, especially that it could mount and allow editing of Mac OS X uncompressed .DMG disk image files under Mac OS 9.1 or later. This download includes the following versions of DiskCopy: DiskCopy 4.2: For use with System 6. DiskCopy 5.0 to 5.5: For use with System 6. DiskCopy 6.0 to 6.3.3: For use with System 7, 8 or 9. v6.3.3 shipped with Mac OS 9.0. It supports .IMA, .IMG files, but *not* .DMG files. DiskCopy 6.4: This is an Apple internal release and can mount/edit uncompressed/unencrypted OSX .DMG disk images. DiskCopy 6.5b13: Altough a beta version, this was the final release of Disk Copy. It supports .DMG and .CDR formats and requires Mac OS 9.1 or later (up to OSX 10.2).
Note: The functionality of Disk Copy 6.3 and later can be extended with a series of scripts which were made available directly from Apple. Look in the downloads section to find them. Here is the description of the scripts taken from Apple's website:
