What is Agent Audio?

Agent Audio is a handy little tool that lets you change the sounds in applications and games.

This is a great program for Mac customization freaks. Agent Audio allows you to replace a program’s native sounds with your own Mac sound files or save a program’s sound resources as Mac sound files. It even lets you archive sound settings so you can revert to the originals if you mess up. For instance, you can replace Eudora’s pedestrian do-DOO-wup “You have new mail.” sound with a bar from “The Rites of Spring.” Beats hacking resources in your fave apps. For shareware, Agent Audio has a pretty professional — and useful — interface. You select applications or files you want to customize, then open the sound resources you want to insert (they have to be System 7 or SND type). Cool features: You can preview a sound and get Resource Numbers and Resource Names from within Agent Audio. Then just select the sound you want to replace and the sound you want to install, and either drag the replacement sound from the Source File list to the Destination File list or click Agent Audio’s Move button. Then just save and listen.
